Transition Projects
Transition Projects
Workshops for Schools and Nurseries have experience of delivering successful and effective transition projects. Please ask us for details for Summer 2010 if you are thinking about transition weeks to help children become familiar with their new settings.
Projects that we have delivered include:
- Transition from Nursery to Reception
- Transition from Reception to Key Stage 1
- Transition from Key stage 1 to Key stage 2
We aim to provide a range of different experiences and opportunities for pupils who wish to attend the programmes.
Artists aim to support children to develop social and communication skills by encouraging co-operation through group work, partner work and team work.
An active, kinaesthetic approach to learning is encompassed in the work we do.
An idea of activities offered can include:
- Drama and co-operative games sessions: A range of fun games to include name, ice breakers, group and movement activities.
- Yoga, dance and movement workshops: Exploring how yoga and movement teaches children about their bodies to enhance self confidence, calm mind and uplift spirit- an essential life skill! Games and Yoga stories are used to facilitate this process.
- Relaxation Sessions: Breathing exercises and techniques for relaxation.
- Peer Massage: Children partner up to play games and experience positive touch and the benefits of massage.
- Creative Workshops: Fun, hands on opportunities to work individually and together to produce 2D/3D Projects.
- Music Workshops: Use of percussion and voice to explore music and to create a group piece.
We will deliver projects allowing for:
- Communicating and liaising with ‘ Extended Services.’
- Producing plans to ensure smooth and effective running of the project.
- Ensure effective delivery in terms of communication, resources and organisation.
- Documentation of all stages of delivery.
Testimonial
The Extended Services Cluster commissioned Workshops for Schools and Nurseries to deliver two summer transition projects during the summer break 2010. One project focused on children starting school for the first time and the other at those moving between key stages 1 and 2.
Sue and Adele from Workshops for Schools and Nurseries were given the initial project brief and compiled two excellent project plans complete with intended outcomes for the children and how they proposed to evidence their work. Their planning also included full risk assessments of the activities they were to undertake and the venues which the Cluster had arranged for them to use.
During the delivery of the programme all staff from Workshops for Schools and Nurseries engaged well with the children and liaised effectively with the parents ensuring the safeguarding of the children at all times. The children reported to have enjoyed the project and activities they were offered and Sue and Adele continued to work with the Cluster after the projects had finished fully evaluating the sessions and identifying their outcomes for the children.
Please take a look at our workshops and if you have any further questions then please contact us by phone, message or email.
