"We thought the whole session was very well organised. The children were really interested and excited. They loved doing the animals, especially the cobra and the dog. The cool down was really relaxing and many children said they were going to get a lavender bag! Overall, very beneficial for children's posture, self control and gross motor development. Thank you for a great session."

Children go wild for yoga at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum
Create mystical and imaginative adventures with tradition yoga postures and a sprinkling of imagination.
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum will be introducing young minds to the creative and imaginative world of Yoga Animals, Bugs and Birds. On Saturday 26 September, children can fly on mystical birds, prowl like a lion and play football with crabs on the beach all without leaving the safe environment of the gallery.
Inspired by the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, Yoga Animals, Bugs and Birds will lead children through creative stories and exciting adventures that will stimulate their imagination and help to maintain their natural flexibility. Some of the animals that will inspire the session are eagles, owls, dolphins, foxes, monkeys, lions and many more. Whilst enjoying a variety of safe postures, the children sing songs, play games and work together.
The stories will involve a wonderful combination of stretches, back arches, twists and balances. These combine to support and strengthen children, not only physically but also mentally by building confidence in themselves and improving their concentration. The children will have the opportunity to integrate balance, co-ordination and movement along with scope to develop their powers of imagination and creativity.
Event organiser, Jessica Pinson noted "Children really enjoy having the freedom to run wild with their imagination and Yoga Animals, Bugs and Birds is the perfect facilitator of this creativity. Using the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition as inspiration, we have been able to create an enthralling adventure for the children to go on whilst using some of the traditional yoga postures; what makes it even better is that it is completely FREE".
